This Is the Church Abroad's Most THRILLING Adventure to Date

When I was a little girl, my hometown library had a Bookmobile. This cute little van had carpeted floors, walls lined with bookshelves, and the shelves stocked with a curated selection for kids and for adults. It even came with a friendly librarian to usher in one or two families at a time with her gleaming smile. When that Bookmobile rolled into University housing, all the children and their parents would stream out of the apartments giggling and line up for a chance to check out a few books without even leaving our neighborhood. It was the greatest thrill to see that vehicle that hid a building that housed entire worlds in volumes of fiction. Now I want you to picture a recreational vehicle that rolls into the poorest neighborhoods of Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, CA. I want you to picture the families lined up outside it. But instead of a carpeted floor, gleaming tile. Instead of walls lined with bookshelves, a waiting area, a nurses station, and exam rooms. Instead of a friendly librarian, a kind and professional doctor.Mobile Health ClinicFor these children, this would not be simply an RV. It would be the key to a healthy childhood. For these parents, it would not simply be an RV. It would be a chance to give their children something they can't afford--regular, reliable, professional health care.We take health care for granted. Our children go for regular annual check ups. Many parents must forgo that because of out-of-pocket costs. Our children are immunized. Many parents aren't even sure of the immunization schedule. When our children are ill, we don't have to guess if they'll be ok; we have somewhere to go to make sure. Many parents sit fretting at home weighing the cost of a doctor's visit against the budget for food that week. When our children want to participate in sports, we send them in for a physical. How many families can add another check up "just because"?The HOPE Association (the charitable works arm of Fr. Anthony Messeh's mission church) wants to make those Mobile Health Clinics a reality. They already have one RV. They already have the medical professionals at the ready (we are Copts after all lol...). But to make the vision a reality, to purchase a second RV and to retrofit them both, they need me and YOU.We have an incredible opportunity to reach out our hand and to make incredible God-driven dreams reality. We have the opportunity to touch the underserved communities in these two cities on a larger scale than ever before. We are an immigrant church. We took our time getting to know our new land. We learned the language and the culture. It's time now to step outside our gates and wash the feet of our neighbors.HOPE is now raising the funds needed to make these RVs health care ready. The campaign ends in just a couple of short weeks. They have already raised nearly $50,000.TODAY, right now, look into your heart and give what you are able. Be part of this new era of the Coptic Church.Close your eyes. Picture your favorite Coptic doctor friend. I'll bet she's gorgeous. Picture her popping her head out of the RV and surveying the long line of children, some healthy, some coughing, all needing her help. She smiles and calls the next family in.Make it happen.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeQnBZDakDU
